Here at Alliance's 16 and 18 new championships and we asked some coaches what they look for in recruiting.
Boston College
Big things that we look for in recruiting are you want to be everyone's favorite teammate, you want to hustle, you gotta be better than the kids we already have on the team, and you gotta love the game. College softball is a grind but it should also be a lot of fun and so we want kids who play with a lot of joy.
Clemson University
At Clemson we're looking for kids that are very athletic, love ball, and hate to lose.
Dartmouth College
In the Ivy League, we look for people who have excellent grades, who are really willing to come in and be a part of a four-year culture, and who are really ready to invest, not just in the four years of softball at Division I, but also the four years beyond that with their education. We look for ballplayers who are really high level and want that balance between academics and athletics at Division I.
University of Delaware
For the University of Delaware, my answer is pretty similar. High grades, high work ethic. We also want players that just love softball and look like they love softball. When you get to us, our expectations are really high, our standards are really high, and the workload is a lot higher than you'll ever have experienced. So if you don't truly love showing up and putting in the time, it's going to be a really hard road. So we want players that wake up, eat, sleep, ready to get better.
