Coaches Are Out in Full Force on the Recruiting Trail!

Last-Chance Prospect Camps and the D1 Coaches Crisscrossing the Country

Coaches Are Out in Full Force on the Recruiting Trail!

Over 50+ D1/D2 programs prioritize unsigned athletes this month—don’t miss your window.

Good luck to all the athletes competing in summer tournaments!

College softball coaches are out recruiting very heavily all summer. We suggest adding college prospect camps to your calendar but it isn’t the last chance for you.

These deadlines are for graduated high schoolers entering college only.

Pro Tip: Bookmark the NCAA Softball Calendar - https://www.ncaa.org/sports/2018/2/2/ncaa-championships-schedule.aspx  for real-time updates.

Key Tournaments & Camps in June 2025

The hottest showcase softball tournaments

  • Colorado Sparkler Tournament: June 29th –July 6th, 2025

  • Top Prospect Camps:

    • Tennessee Softball Camps: Late June 2025

    • Speed & Defense Clinics: Search NFCA Camps https://nfca.org/events  for verified listings.

Hotspot Alert: The Colorado Sparkler (June 29th –July 6th) will have 50+ D1/D2 coaches in attendance, per Extra Inning Softball - https://www.cosparkfire.com/fireworks

July 1 is often a significant date, especially for rising high school seniors (those entering their senior year), because:

Key Reason:

  • July 1 is the first date NCAA Division I college coaches can directly contact rising seniors via phone calls and private messages in many sports (such as baseball, softball, lacrosse, etc.).

  • This date marks the start of more open communication, meaning coaches can proactively reach out to athletes instead of just responding.

Pro Tip: College coaches will be scouting across the states, here is the NCAA Recruiting Calendar Links: https://www.ncaa.org/sports/2018/5/8/division-i-and-ii-recruiting-calendars.aspx and https://www.ncaa.org/sports/2021/2/10/recruiting-calendars-faq.aspx

What Coaches Are Scouting (General Trends)

  • Pitchers/Catchers: Spin rate (via Rapsodo) and pop time (<1.8 sec) remain top metrics.

  • Slappers & Utility Players: Sub-2.8 sec home-to-first times and versatility in positioning.

  • 2026 Grads: Coaches unofficially note underclassmen at large tournaments

How to Stand Out at a June Camp

  • Wear: A white jersey with bold, numbered vinyl (e.g., “#14 | OF”).

  • Bring: A printed skillsheet with verified metrics (60-yard dash, exit velocity, etc.).

  • Ask: “What’s one area your 2026 roster needs to improve?” (a coach-approved conversation starter).

Be sure to add prospect camps to your summer schedule!

The Backup Plan: If You Miss Camp Registration

  1. Virtual Visits: Georgia Tech and other universities have virtual tours https://www.youvisit.com/tour/gatech and Prospective First-year webinars https://application.gatech.edu/portal/prospective_fy_webinars

  2. Tag Coaches on Social Media: Post a 15-second skills reel with #June2026Recruit and @ target schools.

  3. Double-Check Dates: Camp schedules finalize in early 2025. Always confirm via school websites.
