How Top Softball Athletes Deal with Failure and Keep Improving

We ALL have those days, those practices, those sessions, regardless of level of play. Never give up, just keep going! Keep showing up, keep doing the work ♡︎

VIDEO TRANSCRIPT:

You're probably thinking, wow, Skylar, you look like you've been crying. It's because I have. Why? Because I couldn't hit a yellow ball with a bat today. It was one of those days where it's just like, what is going on? What is happening? And I just wanted to get on here and just tell you that you're not alone if you feel that way. That if you feel like your sport doesn't make any sense, you feel like your body's not making the adjustment that it normally makes, your swing doesn't feel connected, that that happens even at a pro level, even at a high level.

I've played at many high levels, and I still struggle sometimes. And I have really hard days. Am I letting it consume me a little bit? Yeah, I am. Yeah, I am. Because I'm sitting here enjoying these bomb chicken wings, busting down on them. And all I'm thinking about is, wow, I really suck today. But guess what? Here's the thing. I'm going to show up again tomorrow. And I'm going to try again. And I'm going to work on something to make me... And feel like I got at least 1% better. Because that's the thing. There's days that are really, really hard at all levels. T-ball, travel, college, professional, Olympic.

There's a lot of hard days. But the difference that separates you from a good athlete and a great athlete is you just keep pushing. You keep grinding. You keep working. And you see the light at the end of the tunnel. Mm-hmm. That's it. So I just wanted to get that off my chest and say I suck today, but I'm going to show up again tomorrow. And after this video, I'm done. I'm going to enjoy my chicken wings and peace. All right. Peace and blessings. Go get after it softball athletes.
