Video Transcript Japan's teamwork culture :

Why is teamwork so important, even though so many athletes don't like it? Because the ball's not moving. So your brain can focus on your body. You know, one of the things that I learned the most in Japan is that my Japanese teammates would take shadow swings or, you know, mirror swings. They'd stand in front of a mirror or the reflection of the hotel, you know, lobby windows at 10 o'clock at night before night before a game and take shadow 150, 200 swings where they're just looking at their swing, looking at their body, making sure that they're on time, foot's down, loaded, all the things that you focus on when your body is focusing on itself and not focusing on a little yellow ball flying at you 70 miles an hour, right? Because when you're in that position and that ball, everybody loves live hitting. I do too, but- You know, when that ball's coming, what are you focusing on? You're focusing on the ball, right? So at some point, your focus has to remain on the ball. In order to get better, though, your focus should be on your body.
