“I have gotten to be the benefactor of all those women who came before me. I’ve been able to make a living coaching college softball when, in middle school, we didn’t even have softball.”

Video Transcript:

Hi! I'm the head softball coach at UTSA. There's many studies out there that say that women in leadership positions, whether it be CEO of a Fortune 500 or a sports team, have competed or played in some sort of organized sport, be it individual or a team sport. And when you look back,

Say before Title IX, a lot of the women that were in leadership positions even then had something to do with an organized operation. Women's sports has exploded. I have gotten to be the benefactor of all those women who came before me. When there was no, I've been able to do, this is my job, I've been able to make a living coaching college softball when in middle school we didn't even have softball. I didn't even have softball at the middle school that I was playing in. The growth of softball, it's like in my lifetime, seriously, the birth to this explosion of what a great sport we have. Basically went from no opportunities to coaches being able to make a living and people getting scholarships.

There's still so much room to grow, but it's just the golden era of fast pitch softball.
