If you do not hear anything that I say the whole evening, you're going to listen to this. You are worth more than the outcome of your performance. Do you hear me? And I mean that I'm saying it to you like this because I wish somebody would have taken me by the shoulders and just shook me so hard because we love softball. And I think that's awesome. You devote so much time. Your parents devote so much money. You carry around these thousand dollar bat bags. You travel every weekend and it's awesome. And I hope you're grateful for it.
But that does not mean that your whole personality, your whole life and you as a being is wrapped up in you, whether you strike out or not, or whether you give up a home run. And I tell you, that as a, this is my job. We are performing for a job. We teach as a job. Softball is our job, but it's still not who I am. You can do this as long as you want, but softball is just what you do. It's not who you are. Do you hear me when I said that? And I hope you believe me.
The sooner that you can realize that, the more free that you can play, the more you can just go out there and have fun. It is a game and we can take it seriously and we can give it all of our effort that we have and we can love it and it can make and break our heart all it wants to, but that does not determine that if you win or lose does not determine you as a person.
